Kenya wildlife service(KWS) has put in place measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in line with the government’s directive to curb the transmission of the coronavirus.
The following measures are to be observed by anyone wishing to visit any National Park in Kenya.
- The hours of operation have been adjusted. Entry will now be from 6:00 am and exits 4:00 pm to comply with curfew rules.
- All visitors to observe mandatory hand-washing/sanitizing before entry.
- All visitors undergo temperature checks at the main entrance.
- A minimum of two (2) rangers at each picnic site to enforce the six-foot distance social distancing rule for those using restrooms.
- Mandatory wearing of face masks while on KWS premises.
- Visitors on game drives are not allowed to come out of vehicles at picnic sites, campsites and viewing points unless they are visiting restrooms.
Additionally, a screening center has been erected at the entrance of Nairobi Nairobi National Park, where members of the public are expected to pass through. The screening is a part of a raft of measures that have been put in place to ensure the safety of visitors and staff members and the park to stay operational during the coronavirus pandemic.
