Kenya wildlife service(KWS) has put in place measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in line with the government’s directive to curb the transmission of the coronavirus.

The following measures are to be observed by anyone wishing to visit any National Park in Kenya.

  1. The hours of operation have been adjusted. Entry will now be from 6:00 am and exits 4:00 pm to comply with curfew rules.
  2. All visitors to observe mandatory hand-washing/sanitizing before entry.
  3. All visitors undergo temperature checks at the main entrance.
  4. A minimum of two (2) rangers at each picnic site to enforce the six-foot distance social distancing rule for those using restrooms.

  5. Mandatory wearing of face masks while on KWS premises.
  6. Visitors on game drives are not allowed to come out of vehicles at picnic sites, campsites and viewing points unless they are visiting restrooms.

Additionally, a screening center has been erected at the entrance of Nairobi Nairobi National Park, where members of the public are expected to pass through.  The screening is a part of a raft of measures that have been put in place to ensure the safety of visitors and staff members and the park to stay operational during the coronavirus pandemic.
