Kenyan among Finalists for the UNWTO Inspiration Africa Branding Challenge.

After receiving over 140 proposals and pitch from marketing and branding outlets as well as individuals, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) last week announced the ten finalists who made it to the penultimate stage of the challenge.

Among them is Kenya’s freelancer oscar Abuko with a project titled “Don’t take his word for it, go see it for yourself”. The Inspiration Africa Branding Challenge is a campaign geared  towards minimizing the negative effects brought about by COVID-19 in the tourism industry which has been the worst affected of all major economic sectors.

UNWTO  invited key actors from the marketing and branding sector to present their proposals for a campaign that positions Africa as a destination in the minds of travelers.

The campaign aims to create a positive image of Africa as a tourism destination that support the efforts of individual countries and companies, tells the many positive stories about Africa and makes tourism a driver of development.

On Friday 16th October, the ten finalists will make their final pitch for the ultimate prize. The ten finalist are

The campaign is a collaboration between UNWTO and CNN International to contribute to boosting traveler confidence and promoting new experiences in one of the world’s most vibrant destinations.

The Brand Africa initiative is a major feature of the UNWTO ten points agenda for Africa adopted at the 23rd General Assembly in St Petersburg, Russia.
