Following the overwhelming demand for gorilla permits by tourists and tour operators-prior to the COVID 19 outbreak, Uganda Wildlife Authority is set to increase the cost of gorilla tracking from $600 to $700 effective 1st July 2020(for Foreign Non-residents). On the other hand, rates for Foreign residents of Uganda was increased also by $100, from $500 to $600. East Africans will still pay 250,000 Ugandan shillings.
The Gorilla habituation experience too will remain at $1,500 for 4 hours stay with a wild Gorilla family in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
In our opinion, this is a fair increment considering that in 2017, Rwanda increased its permit rates to Volcanoes National Park by 100%, from $750 to $1,500. The decision was based on Rwanda’s rebranding as a high end destination. To book your permit, visit www.ugandawildlife.org
